Traditional financial institutions and existing fintechs have failed to fully address the needs of this segment. WeRize is filling that gap by offering a full-stack, socially distributed financial services platform.
Role Overview
This is a full-time, on-site legal internship role based at WeRize’s Head Office. As a Legal Intern, you will work closely with the Chief Manager – Legal (LAP) and contribute to building the legal framework supporting the Loan Against Property (LAP) business across India. The position includes coordination with external legal advisors, assisting with title verification, creation of property charges, document tracking, and internal reporting.
Eligibility Criteria
Education:

Bachelor of Law (3-year or 5-year LL.B.) from a recognized institution.
Experience:
-
0–2 years in the legal departments of banks, NBFCs, or fintech companies involved in secured lending (preferably LAP).
Skills Required:

Knowledge of property laws, Contract Act, Stamp Act, Registration Act, SARFAESI Act, and regional legal codes.

Proficiency in MS Office and legal documentation.

Ability to collaborate across teams and communicate effectively.

Exposure to legal tech tools and digital financial frameworks is a plus.
Key Responsibilities
Property Due Diligence & Legal Coordination:
-
Engage with empaneled legal firms and advocates for title checks and property legal reports.

Assist the credit team in identifying missing documents, and facilitate charge creation on properties.

Liaise with government authorities for charge registration, rectification, and release.
Vendor & Legal Partner Management:
-
Coordinate with zonal legal teams to onboard advocates and legal vendors for property due diligence in new territories.

Evaluate and manage legal vendor performance periodically in line with in-house policies.
Compliance & Legal Support:

Ensure compliance with property law and other mortgage-related legal standards.

Support internal legal reporting for board committees and leadership.
Internal Collaboration:

Inform the Head of Legal and reporting manager about legal updates affecting business operations.

Assist in creating internal legal bulletins, knowledge resources, and compliance advisories.
Governance & Reporting:

Maintain and update MIS dashboards on legal operations, vendor metrics, risk flags, and documentation timelines.
