About the Organization

Advocate Avneesh Arputham is an Advocate-on-Record at the Supreme Court of India, recognized for his expertise in high-profile litigation and complex legal matters. A graduate of the London School of Economics (LSE) with an LL.M. in International Commercial Law, he brings global perspectives into Indian legal practice. His professional journey includes working at the House of Commons in the UK Parliament, followed by a tenure at Economic Laws Practice, before establishing his independent litigation practice. Over the years, he has specialized in areas such as white-collar crime, environmental law, and constitutional law. With this unique blend of academic distinction and hands-on litigation experience, the internship offers law students the opportunity to learn from a practitioner with both international exposure and extensive experience before the country’s highest court.

Eligibility

The internship is open to law students who are already familiar with the core principles of legal study and are prepared to actively engage in advanced legal work. Applicants must be at least in their 3rd year of a five-year integrated LL.B. program or in their 2nd year of a three-year LL.B. course. This ensures that candidates possess the necessary academic background to contribute meaningfully. Preference will be given to students who have prior internship experience at the Supreme Court, as this indicates both familiarity with its procedures and a commitment to litigation practice. The internship is especially suited for students interested in constitutional law, criminal law, and environmental matters. Candidates with strong research skills, attention to detail, and the ability to draft effectively will find this opportunity rewarding.

Role and Responsibilities

Selected interns will gain first-hand experience in litigation practice at the Supreme Court of India. They will be engaged in comprehensive legal research, preparation of case briefs, drafting of petitions, and analysis of judgments. Interns will also get exposure to matters related to white-collar crimes, constitutional challenges, and environmental issues. Since preference is given to candidates opting for a physical internship, interns based in New Delhi will have opportunities to attend court hearings, assist in case preparation, and observe proceedings directly. The internship is structured to provide students with practical exposure that bridges the gap between theoretical legal education and real-world practice. By working closely with Advocate Avneesh Arputham, interns will gain insight into strategic litigation, courtroom advocacy, and the nuances of handling complex legal issues at the apex court.

How to Apply

The internship program commences on 1st September 2025, and preference will be given to candidates who can commit to an offline/physical mode of work at the office in Bengali Market, New Delhi. Interested applicants should send their updated CV along with a covering letter that highlights their areas of interest, prior experience, and motivation for applying. Applications must be submitted via email to office.avneesharputham@gmail.com. Given the competitive nature of this opportunity, candidates are encouraged to apply at the earliest. This internship does not just offer professional exposure but also mentorship under an experienced Supreme Court Advocate, making it an excellent stepping stone for those aspiring to build a career in litigation.
