About the Foundation
Chhanv Foundation is a courageous and compassionate non-governmental organization (NGO) based in India that works tirelessly for the rehabilitation, empowerment, and welfare of acid attack survivors. Established with a powerful vision of restoring dignity and self-worth to those who have faced such brutal violence, Chhanv has become a symbol of hope and transformation.
Our journey began with a small group of change-makers who refused to remain silent in the face of injustice. Over the years, the foundation has supported hundreds of survivors by helping them regain control over their lives — emotionally, socially, medically, and legally.
We operate through multiple support channels such as:
- Medical aid and reconstructive surgeries
- Psychological counselling and trauma care
- Legal support to ensure justice
- Vocational training and employment opportunities
- Public awareness campaigns to fight stigma
Chhanv is also known for its Sheroes Hangout Cafés, safe and empowering spaces where survivors not only earn a living but also share their stories and inspire others. These cafés, run entirely by acid attack survivors, challenge the way society perceives beauty, strength, and success. Our work goes beyond charity — it’s about advocacy, transformation, and systemic change. We engage in strong campaigns to prevent acid violence, promote stricter legal actions, and push for survivor-friendly policies at local and national levels.
