
Office Overview:
Prayas is a field action project of the Centre for Criminology and Justice, School of Social Work, established in 1990. It focuses on socio-legal and economic rehabilitation of disadvantaged individuals involved in or vulnerable to the criminal justice system, including those at risk of exploitation, destitution, and criminalisation.
Position Overview:
The position involves socio-legal fieldwork and legal assistance aimed at rehabilitation and support of vulnerable populations. The role requires engagement with communities, legal systems, and institutional stakeholders, combining legal practice with social justice intervention.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Provide legal assistance and socio-legal support to beneficiaries
- Conduct field visits across designated regions
- Draft legal documents and maintain case records
- Coordinate with stakeholders within the criminal justice system
- Work both independently and collaboratively on rehabilitation initiatives
Eligibility:
- LL.B. degree
- Sanad to practice in Maharashtra
- Preference for candidates with 2–3 years of legal practice
- Proficiency in Marathi, English, and Hindi (reading, writing, speaking)
- Basic computer proficiency (MS Office, email, internet)
- Ability to work independently and in teams
- Age below 35 years (as on 31 March 2026)
- Restriction on taking other employment during contract period
