Competition Overview
The Junior Lawyers division of Human Rights Lawyers Association has launched the 2026 Lord Kerr Essay Competition. This year’s topic explores the state’s duty to protect citizens from misinformation. The competition honors Lord Kerr’s legacy in human rights law.

Eligibility
Open to law students and recent graduates without pupillage or a training contract
Submission Details
Word Limit: Maximum 2,000 words
Format: Word Document files only. PDF uploads will trigger an error
File Size: 10MB or less, only one file upload allowed
Anonymity: Submissions anonymised with numeric candidate ID for blind marking. Identifying details will be redacted
Finality: All submissions are final. No re-submissions or duplicates allowed, even before deadline
Prizes
First Place: ₹38,362.71
Two Runners-up: ₹12,788.02 each
