About the Organiser

The NUJS Alternate Dispute Resolution Society (ADRSoc), established in 2016, and the NUJS Journal on Dispute Resolution (JODR), founded in 2021, jointly aim to foster scholarship, research, and discourse on evolving issues in dispute resolution at national and international levels.

About the Competition

Alternate Dispute Resolution has emerged as the lifeblood of efficient justice delivery in today’s globalised, digital and interconnected economy. In an era where law, business and technology are converging at breathtaking speed, the ability to think critically about dispute resolution is more important than ever.

This competition is designed to provoke original thought, challenge sharp legal minds and contribute meaningfully to the debates and discourse that shape the future of dispute resolution in India and beyond. With the legal landscape rapidly evolving- from insolvency frameworks to digital trade, from AI-driven mediation to climate change conflicts, this topic invites participants to engage with complex, real world topics that demand innovative perspectives.

Themes/Topics

1. Integration of Mediation within the Statutory Insolvency Framework to Enhance Efficiency and Preserve Enterprise Value.

2.Framework and Feasibility of Cross-Border Mediation in India under the Singapore Convention.

3.Exploring the potential and challenges of artificial intelligence in alternative and online dispute resolution. 4.Efficacy of alternative dispute resolution mechanisms in resolving environmental conflicts and climate change issues.

5.Whether international arbitration can provide an effective forum for resolving cross-border disputes concerning data protection and digital trade.

6.Contractual arbitration clauses in shareholders’ agreements and the statutory jurisdiction of national company law tribunals.

Eligibility

The competition is open to:

  • Students enrolled in 3-year or 5-year LL.B. or LL.M. programmes;
  • Ph.D. scholars and Professors in the field of law;
  • Advocates

Note: Co-authorship of up to two authors is permitted.

Steps for Payment

Submission Guidelines

  • Co-authorship is permitted with a maximum of two authors.
  • Submissions must be between 3000–4000 words (excluding footnotes and the Abstract and Table of Content).
  • Each submission must be accompanied by an abstract of 200–250 words.
  • All submissions must follow the OSCOLA 4th edition citation style.
  • Document metadata must be removed by the author prior to submission. To learn how to remove metadata, please refer to this link. The manuscript shall be submitted in an MS Word (.doc/.docx) format and must be compatible with MS Word 2007 and above. The Author(s) must ensure to follow British spelling conventions in accordance with the Oxford English Dictionary.
  • The competition is open to students enrolled in 3- year or 5-year B.A. LL.B. programmes, LL.M. students and any other legal professional. Similarity will be assessed using the 5-word chain method, with a maximum permissible limit of 10%, subject to a further qualitative check by the evaluators.
  • The use of AI is highly discouraged; the maximum permissible limit of use of AI is 0%. The submission details will be communicated to participants upon completion of registration.
