About the Journal
The GNLU Law Review (TGLR), established in 2008, serves as the flagship journal of Gujarat National Law University. It is a bi-annual, peer-reviewed, and student-edited academic platform dedicated to fostering contemporary legal research and discussion. Designed as a space for intellectual exchange, TGLR welcomes contributions from academicians, practitioners, researchers, and students alike. Its objective is to broaden the scope of scholarly dialogue by publishing innovative and original research across a wide range of legal and allied disciplines. By facilitating the dissemination of fresh perspectives and critical analysis, TGLR continues to play an important role in shaping modern legal scholarship.
Guidelines
TGLR invites contributions from academicians, practicing professionals, researchers, and postgraduate students. Every submission must be accompanied by an abstract not exceeding 250 words, along with 3–5 keywords to summarize the central theme of the paper. The journal does not mandate a specific theme; however, preference is given to papers addressing pressing and contemporary legal issues. Authors must ensure that their work is original, unpublished, and not under consideration elsewhere. Submissions will be assessed based on originality, analytical depth, clarity, and technical accuracy. Authors bear sole responsibility for the accuracy of facts, references, and interpretations presented in their work.
Authorship & Submission Rules
Co-authorship is permitted for up to two contributors. To maintain anonymity during the review process, the manuscript should not contain any identifying information such as the author’s name, institutional affiliation, or contact details. Instead, a separate cover letter must be provided, clearly stating the name(s) of the author(s), professional details, institutional information, and contact particulars. This ensures a fair and unbiased evaluation of the manuscript. By adhering to these rules, contributors help the journal maintain its rigorous double-blind review process, which upholds academic integrity and ensures that only the highest-quality submissions are published.
Categories of Contributions
TGLR accepts scholarly work in multiple formats to encourage diverse styles of academic writing. Submissions may fall into one of the following categories:
-
Articles: Comprehensive research pieces ranging from 5,000 to 8,000 words (excluding footnotes).
-
Essays: Analytical essays between 3,000 to 5,000 words (excluding footnotes).
-
Book Reviews, Case Comments, or Legislative Notes: Shorter contributions of 1,500 to 3,000 words (excluding footnotes).
This categorization ensures flexibility for contributors, whether they wish to present detailed doctrinal research, engage in theoretical debate, or provide commentary on recent developments. Each category is equally valued and contributes to the diversity of scholarship featured in the journal.
Formatting & Citation Requirements
All manuscripts must be submitted in Microsoft Word format (.doc or .docx) only. Authors must ensure their work is free from spelling and grammatical errors. The main text should be typed in Times New Roman, font size 12, line spacing 1.5, and justified alignment. Footnotes must follow Times New Roman, font size 10, single spacing, and justified alignment. TGLR adheres strictly to The Bluebook: A Uniform System of Citation (20th Edition), and submissions not conforming to this style may be rejected. Authors are encouraged to consult the GNLU Law Review Citation Guide for further clarity. Proper formatting ensures uniformity, professionalism, and ease of readability.
