Job Purpose
The selected candidate will serve as a vital member of the corporate legal team, providing strategic legal support to internal stakeholders across different business units. Key Responsibilities
In this role, the incumbent will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams such as Manufacturing, Finance, Procurement, Product Development, and Human Resources. They will be responsible for reviewing and drafting contracts, conducting commercial and legal negotiations, and ensuring adherence to company guidelines and turnaround timelines. Duties will also include conducting risk assessments, preparing deviation reports, and offering advisory memos on specific projects or issues. The position demands active participation in legal research, especially in areas related to automotive industry regulations, maintaining legal documentation databases, and updating standardized templates for common business transactions. Managing disputes, preventing escalations, and leading conflict resolution strategies will be critical, along with guiding and supervising a team of legal officers to achieve optimal results.
Educational Requirements
A Bachelor of Laws (LLB) degree is a mandatory qualification for this role. The academic background should reflect a strong grasp of core legal principles, contract law, dispute resolution, and corporate governance. Formal legal education will be the foundation for the incumbent’s ability to navigate complex regulatory frameworks and offer informed legal counsel. The role demands a candidate who can apply theoretical legal knowledge to practical business challenges while staying updated with evolving laws and industry-specific legal requirements. Advanced legal education or certifications in areas like contract management or corporate law would be an added advantage, strengthening the candidate’s capability to handle diverse legal scenarios.
Experience and Skills
The ideal candidate will possess 5–7 years of post-qualification experience as an in-house counsel within a multinational corporation. A robust understanding of contract drafting, review processes, and negotiation strategies is essential. Prior exposure to handling contract disputes and working with alternative dispute resolution methods is highly valued. The role calls for exceptional communication abilities, both verbal and written, with fluency in English being a must. Strong interpersonal skills are required to build effective working relationships across departments. The candidate must also be proficient in MS Office applications and adaptable to using new technologies. Previous experience in the manufacturing or automotive sector will be considered a strong asset, as it will enhance the candidate’s ability to address industry-specific legal challenges effectively.
