Position Overview:
The role is for a Case Review Manager, involving the analysis and investigation of suspected wrongful convictions or sentences. The position requires managing a portfolio of complex criminal cases and making well-reasoned recommendations on whether cases should be referred for appeal.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Investigate alleged miscarriages of justice in criminal cases
- Analyse evidence from police, prosecution, courts, and defence
- Review records from institutions such as prisons, NHS, and local authorities
- Conduct legal and factual research, including developments in criminal law
- Interview applicants, witnesses, and liaise with expert professionals
- Manage multiple complex cases and ensure timely progression
- Draft detailed, reasoned recommendations on case referrals
