National Law University Odisha (NLUO), located in Cuttack, is inviting applications for prestigious academic roles in its Law faculty.   • Associate Professor (Law) – 2 Posts

The compensation structure is aligned with UGC norms:

  • Associate Professor (Law): Academic Level 13A, with a rationalized starting salary of ₹1,31,400/-.

  • Assistant Professor (Law): Academic Level 10, with an entry salary of ₹57,700/-.

Eligibility Criteria for Associate Professor (Law)

Applicants for the Associate Professor role must demonstrate an outstanding academic track record:

  • Possess a Ph.D. in Law or related disciplines.

  • Hold a Master’s degree with at least 55% marks (or equivalent grade under the relevant grading system).

  • Have a minimum of eight years of experience in teaching or research, equivalent to the Assistant Professor level.

  • Must present at least seven publications in UGC-listed or peer-reviewed journals and achieve a total research score of 75 (as per Appendix II, Table 2 of the UGC Regulations).

This position is ideal for mid-career academicians with a rich background in research, teaching, and academic administration who are looking to take on greater responsibilities in a reputed legal institution.

Eligibility Criteria for Assistant Professor (Law)

For the Assistant Professor post, candidates must fulfill the following:

  • Possess a Master’s degree in Law or allied field with a minimum of 55% marks, or equivalent grade.

  • Candidates from reserved categories (SC/ST/OBC-NCL/Persons with Disabilities) are eligible for a 5% relaxation.

  • Must have cleared the UGC NET/CSIR NET/SLET/SET, or hold a Ph.D. as per UGC’s Ph.D. Regulations (2009, 2016, or subsequent amendments).

  • Exemptions from NET/SLET/SET may apply for candidates awarded Ph.D. before July 11, 2009, subject to specific criteria, including:

    • Regular Ph.D. mode

    • External evaluation of the thesis

    • Open viva voce

    • Two publications from Ph.D. research (at least one in a refereed journal)

    • Two presentations at funded academic events

  • Alternatively, Ph.D. holders from top 500 global universities (as per QS, THE, or ARWU rankings) are also eligible.
