Eligibility
This internship is specifically designed for law students in their final year of study as well as recent law graduates who have a strong interest in insolvency and bankruptcy law. Candidates must be available for a long-term commitment of at least six months, ensuring that they can fully immerse themselves in ongoing matters and learn the nuances of the Insolvency & Bankruptcy Code (IBC). An immediate joiner is preferred, particularly those who are able to begin in August. The ideal applicant should demonstrate strong research and drafting skills, along with a deep interest in corporate restructuring, resolution processes, and insolvency practice. While prior exposure to litigation or IBC-related work is an advantage, it is not mandatory; motivation, diligence, and eagerness to learn will be key factors in the selection process.
Role
Selected interns will gain extensive exposure to matters under the Insolvency & Bankruptcy Code. The role involves supporting lawyers in legal research, analyzing case laws, and preparing documents relevant to NCLT and NCLAT proceedings. Interns will assist in drafting applications, replies, and case summaries, while also contributing to the preparation of briefs and filings before insolvency tribunals. In addition, they will help maintain case files, coordinate with advocates, and provide support in client-related matters. This hands-on experience offers a unique opportunity to understand the intricacies of corporate insolvency resolution processes and litigation strategies. By working closely with experienced practitioners, interns will develop practical insights into the functioning of insolvency law and its application in corporate contexts, bridging the gap between academic study and professional practice.
How to Apply
Interested candidates should apply by sending their updated CV along with a short cover note to mehjabin.chaudhary@indialaw.in. The subject line of the application email should clearly mention: “Application – IBC Internship (Mumbai)”. Since this is a long-term internship with a preference for immediate joiners, early applications are strongly encouraged. The internship will be based at the firm’s Mumbai office, offering interns the chance to work at the headquarters and interact with a large team of professionals. Applicants should highlight any prior academic or practical experience related to insolvency or corporate law in their application. This internship not only provides the chance to contribute meaningfully to live cases but also offers a valuable stepping stone for a career in insolvency, restructuring, and commercial litigation.
