About the Programme

The Competition Commission of India (CCI) conducts an internship programme as part of its advocacy mandate under Section 49 of the Competition Act, 2002. This programme aims to familiarise students with the practical aspects of competition law and the functioning of CCI as a market regulator. Through focused outreach and training, CCI engages with students from law, economics, management, finance, and related disciplines to build awareness about competition policy and its role in the Indian economy. The internship is designed to help students understand the intricacies of competition law and prepare for future roles in legal, economic, and policy domains.

Eligibility

The internship is open to Indian nationals who are students of recognized universities or institutions and have some exposure to competition law. Candidates with pre-confirmed job placements are not eligible. Students pursuing the following courses can apply:

  • Economics & Management: MA/MSc (Economics), MBA, or students in their 4th/final year of a 5-year integrated economics degree.

  • Law: 2nd/3rd year of a 3-year LLB or 4th/final year of a 5-year integrated LLB, as well as LLM students.

  • Regulatory Governance: MA/MSc (Regulatory Governance).

  • Professional Courses: Final group students of Chartered Accountancy (CA), Cost Accountancy (CMA), or Company Secretary (CS).

Stipend

Selected interns will receive an honorarium of ₹15,000 per month during the internship.

Duration

The internship is normally for one month, starting on the first working day of the month. However, students wishing to intern for two to three months may also apply, provided they submit a recommendation from their respective university or college for the desired duration.

How to Apply?

  • Applications must be submitted in the prescribed format (Annexure) only.

  • Each application must include a recommendation from a competent authority of the applicant’s academic institution. Applications without recommendations will not be considered.

  • Applicants must also submit a Statement of Purpose (around 200 words) explaining their interest in the internship and objectives of the study.

  • Applications should reach by the 1st of the preceding month for the desired internship month (e.g., for a December internship, the application must reach by 1st November).
