Position Overview

iProbono is hiring a Junior Program Officer (JPO) for its Delhi office. This is a full-time role primarily focused on litigation and casework support. The JPO works closely with the Programs Team, panel lawyers, and NGO partners to advance social impact litigation and advocacy projects. This position is ideal for early-career legal professionals passionate about social justice and public interest law.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Litigation Support: Assisting in briefing panel lawyers, drafting briefing notes, and attending court hearings to monitor case progress.

  • Legal Research: Conducting primary and secondary research on various human rights issues to support strategic litigation and policy submissions.

  • Documentation: Maintaining the in-house case database, creating case summaries, and managing litigation calendars.

  • Advocacy & Outreach: Identifying new NGO partners, supporting advocacy campaigns, and drafting policy briefs, articles, or social media posts.

  • Event Coordination: Assisting the team in organizing workshops, consultations, and training programs for beneficiaries and partner organizations.

Eligibility

  • Education: A Bachelor’s degree in Law (LL.B.).

  • Experience: Typically 1 to 3 years of experience in litigation or court-related work, ideally gained through NGOs or litigation chambers.

  • Skills: Sound knowledge of the Indian legal system (especially child rights and criminal justice). Proficiency in legal research and database management.

  • Communication: Excellent written and oral communication skills in English and Hindi.

  • Attributes: Highly organized, proactive, and committed to a long-term career in the social justice sector.
