
Office Overview:
City of Lincoln Council is a public sector body with an expanding Legal Services Team that provides legal support across litigation, property, and contractual matters. The team works towards delivering legal advice to support governance and administrative functions of the council.
Position Overview:
The position is for a Paralegal (Contentious / Non-Contentious), supporting either the Litigation Team or the Property & Contracts Team. The role involves assisting solicitors in legal research, drafting, case handling, and administrative legal work.
Roles and Responsibilities:
Contentious Paralegal:
- Taking initial instructions from client departments
- Liaising with courts and assisting in litigation procedures
- Preparing case bundles and supporting counsel in court
- Drafting applications, schedules, and legal documents
- Assisting with FOI and SAR requests
Non-Contentious Paralegal:
- Assisting with contracts and legal documentation
- Drafting agreements, licenses, and amendments
- Handling land registry applications and requisitions
- Managing document sealing and registers
- Supporting responses to FOI and SAR requests
Eligibility:
- Law degree or equivalent qualification
- Understanding of local government law and legal framework
- Experience in drafting and legal research
- Strong communication and organisational skills
- Ability to provide legal support and advice effectively
Job Details:
Opportunity: Paralegal (Contentious / Non-Contentious)
Stipend/Remuneration: £29,218 – £31,741 per year
