Position Overview:
The Group is seeking to appoint an In-House Counsel to act as the principal internal legal adviser. Reporting directly to the Chief Operating Officer, the role involves providing pragmatic, commercially focused legal advice across a wide spectrum of operational and strategic matters. The position offers significant autonomy, close engagement with senior leadership, and exposure to international education partnerships.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Advising on contracts, including drafting and negotiation
- Handling parent terms and school policies
- Providing guidance on employment law matters
- Ensuring compliance with data protection regulations
- Supporting governance and regulatory compliance
- Managing and advising on complaints and dispute resolution
- Identifying and mitigating legal and operational risks
- Coordinating with external legal counsel where required
- Assisting in drafting and negotiating international partnership agreements
- Supporting compliance with education-specific laws (e.g., Equality Act, Independent School Standards)
Eligibility:
- Qualified Solicitor (UK or equivalent)
- Strong legal judgement and drafting skills
- Experience in areas such as employment law, charity law, or other relevant practice areas
- Ability to deliver practical, solution-oriented legal advice
- Interest in developing expertise in education law and regulatory frameworks
