About the Role

This full-time, permanent position is a strategic legal role in the insurance sector, focused on overseeing a wide range of litigation and legal compliance responsibilities. The Chief Legal Officer (CLO) will be responsible for managing legal processes across motor accident claims, compensation cases, consumer complaints, and insurance ombudsman matters. You’ll be the go-to advisor for legal issues impacting different operational functions and play a crucial part in ensuring the company’s legal health and strategic risk mitigation.

Core Responsibilities

As CLO, your day-to-day legal oversight will cover the following:

  • Represent and handle Motor Accident Claims Tribunal (MACT) cases effectively.

  • Manage Employee Compensation Act cases and ensure compliance.

  • Appear before Consumer Forums under the Consumer Protection Act to resolve disputes.

  • Respond to complaints filed before the Insurance Ombudsman.

  • Draft timely and strategic responses to legal notices received by the organization.

  • Provide legal advice and guidance to internal teams across departments.

  • Maintain a comprehensive MIS (Management Information System) and generate regular reports for litigation tracking and status updates.

This role also involves close collaboration with internal stakeholders, external legal counsel, and regulatory authorities as required.

Qualifications & Skills Required

To be successful in this role, candidates should have:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Law (LL.B). Postgraduate qualifications are preferred.

  • Relevant experience in handling insurance-related litigation and legal compliance.

  • Excellent knowledge of Consumer Protection Law, Motor Vehicle Law, and Labour Compensation Law.

  • Proficiency in legal document drafting, case preparation, and strategic litigation management.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

  • Ability to manage legal databases and extract actionable insights from litigation reports.

  • A proactive, solution-oriented mindset with attention to detail.
