Eligibility
The position is open to candidates who have 1–3 years of experience in the legal industry, with at least a high school diploma or equivalent qualification. While an Associate’s degree or some college-level education is preferred, strong professional experience will also be considered. Applicants should have a sound understanding of legal documents and terminology, alongside proficiency in Microsoft Office tools such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Familiarity with case management software, docketing systems, and handling PDFs or other digital formats is highly desirable. Candidates must demonstrate excellent organizational skills, effective time management, and the ability to handle high-pressure situations while maintaining professionalism. A valid driver’s license and the ability to type at least 50 words per minute are also required for this role.
Role
The Legal Assistant at HMC will be responsible for providing comprehensive support to attorneys and ensuring seamless day-to-day office operations. Responsibilities include conducting legal research, assisting in the preparation and proofreading of documents such as pleadings, contracts, motions, affidavits, subpoenas, and briefs, as well as managing correspondence with clients, opposing counsel, and court officials. The role further involves scheduling, deadline tracking, and administrative support to ensure accuracy and efficiency in legal workflows. In addition, the Legal Assistant will coordinate with the accounting department on client billing to ensure records remain up to date. This position requires attention to detail, excellent communication, and the ability to adapt quickly in a fast-paced law firm environment.
