Role Overview

This is a full-time, office-based position for a Legal Associate specializing in litigation, located in Bengaluru. The role demands 7–12 years of experience within the real estate sector, along with the ability to read Kannada—a mandatory requirement for effective document review and coordination. The position focuses on managing legal documentation, handling property-related agreements, and overseeing litigation processes connected to the company’s projects. You will be involved in both preventive and active legal work, ensuring that property transactions, contracts, and disputes are handled in full compliance with statutory and organizational requirements. The role also entails working closely with various departments and external advocates to safeguard the company’s legal interests.

Key Responsibilities

The Legal Associate will be responsible for coordinating with different departments and landowners to obtain necessary property details and documents. They will compile available records, identify additional documentation needs, and present them for management review. Core duties include drafting key legal documents such as title opinions, MOUs, Joint Development Agreements, Sale Deeds, Agreements to Sell, Agreements to Build, public notices, police complaints, and reply notices. The role also involves working with landowners and the accounts team to ensure timely payments and reconciliation, maintaining legal documentation for each project, liaising with revenue departments to obtain RTCs, ECs, and other records, and preparing control sheets for court matters. The Legal Associate will prepare and file pleadings, represent the company before authorities, follow up on pending cases, and manage the land bank records.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate should possess a Bachelor’s degree in Law (LL.B) and preferably hold a Master’s degree in Law or Business Law. A minimum of 7 years’ relevant experience in the real estate industry is essential. The candidate must demonstrate in-depth knowledge of property laws, contract drafting, and litigation procedures. Proficiency in reading Kannada is mandatory, given the regional nature of the documentation. The role requires strong analytical abilities, meticulous attention to detail, excellent drafting skills, and the capacity to manage multiple cases and projects simultaneously. Experience in liaising with government authorities, courts, and external counsel will be highly valued, as will the ability to work collaboratively with internal departments to achieve timely and legally sound project outcomes.
