Role Overview
AbbVie is looking for a skilled and experienced Legal Counsel to support its pharmaceutical operations across India and the broader India region. This role demands strategic legal insight, business acumen, and a collaborative mindset, enabling the individual to provide proactive and impactful legal support in a dynamic, cross-functional environment.
Key Responsibilities

Provide strategic commercial legal advice for AbbVie’s pharmaceutical business in India and the wider region, in coordination with local and regional teams.

Actively participate as a member of the India Affiliate Management Team, contributing to planning and business growth initiatives.

Lead or support strategic legal projects, including those in emerging or complex areas of law or business.

Offer forward-thinking legal solutions tailored to AbbVie’s core business needs, assessing risks and long-term impacts.

Identify legal risks independently and deliver practical, compliant solutions in line with AbbVie’s internal policies and external regulations.

Draft, review, and negotiate a wide array of contracts, including vendor, distribution, marketing, manufacturing, supply, and healthcare agreements.

Manage litigation and dispute resolution independently, utilizing external counsel when necessary to achieve the best outcomes.

Develop standard templates, legal tools, and streamlined processes to enhance operational efficiency.

Conduct legal training for internal teams to ensure awareness and compliance with legal standards and company policies.
Education and Experience

A law degree from a recognized institution.

Minimum 10 years of post-qualification experience, preferably including both law firm and in-house roles within multinational organizations.

Prior experience in the pharmaceutical industry or working with life sciences regulatory frameworks is strongly preferred.

Familiarity with areas such as antitrust, anti-bribery compliance, data protection, and intellectual property is an added advantage.
