Job Purpose

The Litigation Strategy Specialist will be responsible for designing and executing comprehensive litigation strategies aimed at reducing Non-Performing Assets (NPAs) and boosting collections. This role involves managing cases across all stages of litigation, from pre-litigation to settlement, ensuring that each step aligns with the organization’s goals and risk management framework. The position demands collaboration with internal departments, external legal counsel, and regulatory bodies to secure favorable legal and financial outcomes. The ideal candidate will be a proactive legal professional with excellent analytical capabilities, strong litigation management experience, and the ability to translate legal strategies into effective operational results.

Key Accountabilities

The role involves crafting litigation strategies that directly support the company’s business objectives and risk control measures. This includes designing legal recovery tools to maximize collections, developing processes to manage cases efficiently from pre-litigation to settlement, and continuously monitoring outcomes for improvement. Regular analysis based on geographical factors, customer profiles, and legal tools used will help in refining future actions. The candidate will coordinate with internal legal teams and external counsel for case preparation, conduct in-depth legal research, maintain case documentation, and ensure compliance with court protocols. They will also prepare progress reports for senior management and contribute to settlement negotiations aimed at minimizing risk exposure.

Job Duties & Responsibilities

The Litigation Strategy Specialist will lead the formulation and standardization of legal and operational policies to streamline filings, arbitrations, and documentation retrieval. They will oversee asset possession processes, debt recovery actions, and settlement negotiations within legal boundaries. Continuous monitoring of litigation progress, risk assessment, and providing actionable recommendations will form a core part of the responsibilities. The role requires close coordination with internal legal teams, external lawyers, and regulatory authorities to manage disputes from initiation to resolution. Drafting and vetting of legal documents will be frequent, ensuring that all legal paperwork is precise, compliant, and strategically advantageous for the company’s objectives.

Experience

The candidate must hold a Bachelor’s degree in Law from a National Law School or other top-tier legal institution, with 3–5 years of experience in litigation strategy or related legal roles. Experience in leading legal strategy within top-rated law firms or consulting companies is preferred. A deep understanding of litigation processes, court operations, and legal research methodologies is essential. Proven experience in developing and executing successful litigation plans is critical. Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills are required, as is proficiency with legal research tools and case management systems. Exposure to the financial services sector will be considered an added advantage.

Education / Preferred Qualifications

A Bachelor’s degree in Law from a reputed National Law School or other highly recognized legal institution is mandatory. Additional certifications or training in litigation management, risk mitigation, or financial recovery law will be advantageous. The candidate should demonstrate a history of strategic thinking, effective problem-solving, and achieving favorable legal outcomes in complex cases.

Technical Competencies

A solid command of MS Excel and PowerPoint is essential to prepare litigation tracking reports, performance analytics, and strategic presentations for senior management. Familiarity with legal research platforms and case management software is required to manage workflow efficiently. The candidate should also possess the ability to translate complex legal data into actionable business insights, enhancing the decision-making process across the organization.
