Manipal Law School (MLS), Bengaluru, is a constituent unit of the Institution of Eminence, Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE). Ranked 3rd in the NIRF University Rankings 2025, MAHE is among India’s leading higher education institutions. Manipal Law School focuses on advancing legal education with a strong emphasis on technology law, digital governance, and emerging regulatory frameworks. The Moot Court Society (MCS), the official student-run body of MLS, is responsible for organising and managing all mooting activities, including national and international moot court competitions.

About the Event

The 3rd Dr. TMA Pai International Technology Law Moot Court Competition is an international-level moot court competition designed to provide law students with a platform to engage with contemporary issues in technology law.

The 2026 edition focuses on Online Gaming and Esports Law, particularly in light of the Promotion and Regulation of Online Gaming Act, 2025, which has introduced a new framework for regulating digital entertainment and gaming platforms.

Participants will deliberate on complex legal issues including platform accountability, intermediary liability, state regulation, prohibition, enforcement mechanisms, and balancing innovation with public interest. The competition aims to promote advanced legal research, advocacy skills, and academic discourse at the intersection of law and technology.

Team Composition

  • Each team must consist of three members:
    • Two Speakers
    • One Researcher
  • Only one team per institution is permitted.
  • Participants must be students enrolled in a three-year or five-year LL.B. programme (or equivalent law degree) from a recognised institution.

Total Prize Pool: ₹4,00,000

  • Winning Team: ₹1,50,000 + One-Year SCC Online Subscription
  • Runners-Up: ₹70,000
  • Best Memorandum (Appellant): ₹20,000
  • Best Memorandum (Respondent): ₹20,000
  • Best Speaker: ₹20,000
  • Second Best Speaker: ₹10,000
  • Best Judgement: ₹10,000

Upon successful verification of registration, teams will be allotted a Team Code (TC–XX) which will serve as their official identification throughout the competition.
