About the Organization
The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) of India plays a pivotal role in fostering awareness and education on human rights, as outlined under Section 12(h) of the Protection of Human Rights Act, 1993. Since 1998, the Commission has regularly conducted internship programs to educate and engage university students in human rights advocacy and protection.
Internship Opportunity
The NHRC is inviting applications from eligible students across India for its “Online Short Term Internship Programme (OSTI) – August 2025,” scheduled from 11th to 22nd August 2025.
Eligibility Criteria
Applications are open to the following categories of students:

3rd year and above of any integrated 5-year postgraduate course

3rd or final year of a graduation program
-
Any year/semester of a postgraduate degree (including 3-year LL.B.)

Any year/semester of a postgraduate diploma course
-
Research scholars from any academic discipline
Internship Activities
Participants will engage in:

Sessions and interactive discussions with the Hon’ble Chairperson, NHRC Members, domain experts, and senior Government officials

Group projects on pressing human rights issues

Book reviews relevant to human rights themes

Screenings and analysis of documentaries covering child labor, bonded labor, anti-trafficking, health (including mental health), and education

Virtual field visits to prisons, police stations, NGOs, and shelter homes, providing insights into institutional operations and challenges
