Office Overview:

The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) has launched the second edition of the MEA Internship Programme for the year 2023–24. The programme is designed to enhance engagement with the Ministry’s work, promote gender inclusivity, and ensure diversity in terms of academic background, domicile, and socio-economic representation among interns.

Position Overview:

Applications are invited for the Paid Legal Internship – MEA Internship Programme 2026. The internship provides exposure to the functioning of the Ministry at its Headquarters in Delhi. A maximum of 30 interns will be selected for each term.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Assisting divisions of MEA in research, documentation, and policy-related assignments
  • Supporting drafting and analytical work
  • Assisting in background research for international relations and diplomatic matters
  • Contributing to reports, briefs, and internal documentation as assigned

Eligibility:

  • Indian citizens
  • Graduate degree holders from a recognized university, or students in the final year of their undergraduate programme (where internship is mandatory)
  • Candidate must not exceed 25 years of age as on 31 December of the year of internship

Job Details:

  • Opportunity: MEA Internship Programme 2026
  • Duration: Internships are offered in two terms each year: (April to September) , (October to March)
    Each intern will be engaged for a minimum of 1 month and maximum of 3 months.
  • Vacancy: 30 interns per term
  • Stipend: ₹10,000 per month (Honorarium)

The selection process will be conducted entirely online through the official MEA Internship Portal.
Candidates must register on the portal, obtain login credentials, and complete the online application process.

The selection will consist of:

  1. Preliminary Screening
  2. Personal Interview

All stages including application, scrutiny, selection, division allocation, extension, and certification will be managed through the Ministry’s dedicated internship portal.
