Shipping Corporation of India Ltd. (SCI) is a Navratna Public Sector Undertaking and the largest shipping enterprise in India. As the nation’s leading maritime transport company, SCI owns and operates nearly one-third of the country’s shipping tonnage.
The corporation has operational involvement across almost every segment of the shipping industry, catering to both domestic and international maritime trade. Apart from operating its own fleet, SCI also provides ship management and manning services for several vessels on behalf of various government departments and organizations.
About the Internship
The Shipping Corporation of India Ltd. is inviting applications for its Summer Internship Programme (SIP) 2026 at its Head Office in Mumbai and Branch Office in Kolkata.
Applications are open to students currently pursuing:
- MBA / Postgraduate programmes in Management, preferably with specializations in:
- Human Resources
- Marketing
- Finance
- Logistics
- International Business
- Operations
- Supply Chain Management
- Port & Shipping Management
- Environmental, Social & Governance (ESG)
- Business Analytics
- General Management
- Graduate or Postgraduate degree in Law
- Graduate or Postgraduate degree in Engineering, preferably in:
- Marine Engineering
- Mechanical Engineering
- Information Technology
- Civil Engineering
Other Requirements
Applicants must satisfy the following conditions:
- The candidate must be an Indian citizen.
- The candidate must be pursuing a Graduate or Postgraduate degree from a recognized university or educational institution in India.
- The Summer Internship Programme must be a mandatory requirement of the candidate’s academic curriculum.
- A letter from the university/college/institution confirming the mandatory requirement of the internship must be submitted along with the application.
- The candidate must have secured at least 60% marks in the semester or academic year completed prior to the internship.
- If marks are awarded in Grade Point or Letter Grade format, candidates must submit a conversion certificate from the university showing the equivalent percentage.
Terms of Engagement
The internship will be conducted for a period of two months, during May 2026 to July 2026.
The exact start date will be aligned with the internship schedule of the candidate’s academic institution, provided that the total duration does not exceed the specified period.
Stipend
- No stipend or conveyance allowance will be provided during the internship period.
Medical Benefits
- Interns will not be entitled to any medical benefits from the company.
Accommodation
- No accommodation facilities will be provided to candidates attending interviews or selected for the internship.
Transportation
- No travel or transportation expenses will be reimbursed for attending the interview or during the internship period.
Additional Requirement
Selected candidates must bring their own laptop for use during the entire internship period.

Application Procedure

Selection Process
The selection of candidates will be based on a Personal Interview, which may be conducted either in physical or online mode.
Interview dates will be communicated at a later stage. Applicants are advised to regularly check the official website of Shipping Corporation of India Ltd. for updates regarding interview schedules and results.
The internship will be conducted at the location selected in the application:
- Shipping House, Mumbai
- Shipping House, Kolkata
Selected candidates will be placed at the respective SCI offices. Some candidates applying for the Mumbai location may also be assigned to the Maritime Training Institute, Powai, which functions under Shipping Corporation of India Land and Assets Management Ltd..
SCI reserves the right to allocate interns accordingly.
Documents Required at the Time of Interview
Candidates must present the following documents during the personal interview:
- Academic mark sheets for the relevant semester or academic year
- Bonafide certificate issued by the university or college
- Official letter confirming that the internship is a mandatory requirement of the academic programme
The list of selected candidates will be published on the SCI website and also communicated through the email ID provided in the application form.
Selected interns will undergo training for two months between May and July 2026 and must carry their own laptop during the internship period.
