Master’s degree with at least 55% marks (or equivalent grade) in the relevant subject

NET/SET qualification or Ph.D. in compliance with UGC norms (2009/2016 regulations and amendments)

Candidates who registered for Ph.D. before 11 July 2009 are exempt from NET/SET if they meet additional criteria (Ph.D. awarded in regular mode, thesis evaluated by two examiners, viva voce conducted, research publications, and conference presentations)
