Theme: “Beyond Poverty: Rethinking Welfare Schemes for a Just and Inclusive India”
Concept
Welfare schemes have long been the backbone of India’s fight against poverty. Yet, as society evolves, so must our understanding of what “welfare” truly means. Is it only about financial aid, or about creating pathways to dignity, opportunity, and self-reliance?
This theme invites reflections on how welfare schemes can be reimagined to respond to new challenges such as climate change, digital divides, rural distress, and the future of work. The goal is to explore how welfare can move from short-term relief to long-term empowerment, blending compassion with innovation.

Environment and Sustainable Livelihoods:
- Climate-resilient welfare: Supporting farmers and workers affected by environmental change.
- Green jobs and sustainable rural employment through MNREGA and beyond.

Analysis and Insight
- Evidence-Based Writing: Support your points with references to treaties, judgments, case studies, peace agreements, historical precedents, or verified reports.
- Balanced Perspective: Acknowledge both possibilities and limitations, whether it’s of international courts, transnational justice mechanisms, or local efforts.
- Audience Awareness: Keep your analysis accessible for a mixed audience: students, Rotaract members, and socially engaged readers.
Writing Style and Structure
- Clarity and Flow: Write clearly and concisely, avoiding jargon.
- Strong Structure: Begin with a clear introduction to the issue, present key arguments or reflections, and offer concluding thoughts or a call to action.
- Engagement: Use real-life examples, quotes, or case studies to keep your writing engaging and relatable.

Originality: Present a unique perspective with an original analysis

Word Limit (Inclusive of Everything)
The Word Limit is as follows:
- Short Pieces: Up to 800 words
- Long Pieces: Up to 1500 words
- Story: Up to 1500 words.
- Analysis: 2000 words
- Opinion: 2500 words
Submission Guidelines
- Authorship: Co-authorship (up to 2 authors) is permitted
- Formatting: Times New Roman | Font Size 12 | Line Spacing 1.5 | Justified
- Referencing: All references must be in the form of hyperlinks in the body of the submission. In case no hyperlink is available for any reference, the use of endnotes is recommended. The endnotes must conform with the 4th edition of the Oxford University Standard for the Citation of Legal Authorities (OSCOLA) style of citation.
- Originality: Submissions must be original and unpublished
- File Format: Submissions must be in a Word format (‘.doc’ or ‘.docx’).

Review & Publication Process
All submissions will undergo a review process by the Editorial Board, and the Board’s decision on confirmation or rejection shall be communicated within a fortnight. Accepted submissions may be subject to editorial suggestions. Final publication is contingent upon the incorporation of feedback to the satisfaction of the Board. The Board’s decision will be final.
