COURSE MODULES OVERVIEW
MODULE 1 – Foundations of Adjournment & Personal Exemption
Build conceptual clarity on the purpose and legal basis of adjournments and personal exemptions.
Participants will:
- Understand when adjournment is legally justified
- Distinguish between adjournment and exemption in court practice
- Identify procedural consequences of non-appearance
- Analyze situations where courts may grant or refuse relief
Assignment 1: Short case scenario analysis – Identify whether adjournment or personal exemption is applicable and justify it with legal reasoning.
MODULE 2 – Legal Framework & Judicial Approach
Examine statutory provisions and judicial interpretation governing adjournments and personal exemptions.
Participants will:
- Interpret relevant provisions under procedural laws
- Understand judicial discretion in granting or refusing requests
- Analyze landmark Supreme Court and High Court decisions
- Identify misuse and delaying tactics in litigation practice
- Learn proper drafting standards followed in courts
MODULE 3 – Strategy, Ethics & Courtroom Practice
Develop practical and ethical skills required while seeking procedural reliefs in court.
Participants will:

- Develop persuasive techniques while addressing the bench
- Understand negotiation and communication in procedural matters
Assignment 2: Draft a formal Adjournment Application and Personal Exemption Application based on structured case scenarios.
MODULE 4 – Drafting & Practical Application
Translate legal knowledge into structured drafting and real-world practice.
Participants will:
- Draft clear and legally sound applications
- Review and improve drafting quality
- Avoid common drafting errors
- Participate in mock court simulations
- Analyze real judicial orders for practical learning
