WORK ASSIGNED
What kind of tasks were assigned to you during the internship? Which areas of law did you primarily work on (e.g., criminal, civil, corporate, IPR, etc.)?
I primarily worked in the field of criminal law. My responsibilities include attending court proceedings, drafting legal documents, and completing assigned tasks punctually.
LEARNING OUTCOMES
What were the most valuable legal skills you developed during the internship?
Legal drafting and Legal advisory.
Mention any new software/tools or legal databases you learned to use (e.g., Manupatra, SCC Online, etc.)
Manupatra, SCC Online
Describe a challenging task or assignment and how you approached it.
During my internship with Advocate Jagmohan Singh, I had three days to write an anticipatory bail plea for a delicate criminal case. The hard part was sorting through different court rulings, keeping the client’s details private, and following exact court rules. I started by reading important judgments, mapped out each section, got daily feedback from the advocate, and asked a junior intern to handle the formatting. The court accepted our draft as is, and the client got bail at the first hearing.
PROFESSIONAL ENVIRONMENT
What did you observe about the work culture and client management at the firm?
The team was highly collaborative, sharing research and meeting tight deadlines together. Client interactions were clear and discreet—we kept them informed in simple terms while respecting their privacy and maintaining professionalism.
Were you given constructive feedback during the internship?
Yes. Advocate Singh reviewed my drafts daily praising my professional conduct and punctual submissions while pointing out stronger ways to frame legal arguments and catch formatting errors. His feedback was specific, practical, and helped me improve quickly.
OVERALL EXPERIENCE & SUGGESTIONS
What did you enjoy the most during your internship?
I loved drafting real-case pleadings and watching an Advocate argue against them, seeing firsthand how my work helped the client.
What improvements would you suggest for the internship program at the firm?
I’d suggest adding brief weekly workshops on courtroom etiquette and client interviewing skills. A simple feedback checklist after each assignment could also help interns track their progress more clearly.
