About the Competition
DNLU Centre for Research in Environmental Law, in collaboration with the GNLU Centre for Environment, Sustainability, and Climate Justice and Gujarat Maritime University, presents the 1st National Article Writing Competition. The competition aims to promote critical and interdisciplinary discourse on pressing environmental, climate, and sustainability issues through legal research and innovative scholarship.

- Ecocide as the Fifth International Crime — expanding the jurisdiction of the ICC.
- Rights of Indigenous Communities — legal protection of traditional knowledge in climate governance.
- Airspace Pollution — the regulatory vacuum in atmospheric environmental law.
- ESG Fraud & Greenwashing — rethinking corporate accountability.
- Climate Surveillance & Data Colonialism — power and technology in the Global South.
- Sustainable Development vs. Energy Security — legal tensions in a climate crisis.
- Geopolitical Fragmentation — a Global South perspective on international environmental law.
- Sustainable Finance & Banking Regulation — aligning capital flows with climate commitments.
- Investor–State Arbitration vs. Environmental Regulation — rebalancing sovereignty.
Submission Guidelines
- Submit in Microsoft Word format (.doc / .docx).
- Include an abstract not exceeding 250 words, indicating the chosen theme.
- One entry per participant, for one theme only.
- Co-authorship permitted up to two (2) authors.
- Word limit of 3,000 words, excluding footnotes.
- Work must be original and the bona fide work of the participant.
- Not submitted for any other competition or purpose.
