National Law University Jodhpur through the Centre for Advanced Research and Training in Arbitration Law (CARTAL) publishes the Indian Journal of Arbitration Law (IJAL), a leading journal dedicated to arbitration scholarship and research.
About the Competition
The 9th Gary B. Born Essay Competition on International Arbitration, 2026 is an international-level essay competition aimed at promoting research and academic discourse in arbitration law. It is conducted with the support of renowned arbitration expert Gary B. Born.
Objective:
- To encourage scholarly research in international arbitration
- To analyse contemporary and emerging issues in arbitration law
- To contribute to academic literature and policy discourse
Participants must:
- Submit an original, unpublished essay
- Follow prescribed formatting and citation rules (Bluebook)
- Choose one theme and adhere to word limits
- Ensure anonymity in submission
Eligibility
- Open to undergraduate and postgraduate law students worldwide
- Recent graduates (as per rules) may also be eligible
