The Post Completions team plays a strategically important role in ensuring compliance, tax accuracy, and risk mitigation in property dealings. Position Overview:
The opportunity is for a Paralegal in the Post Completions team, focusing on Real Estate Tax and Registration (RETR). The role involves managing property transaction finalisation processes, including tax submissions, registrations, and compliance procedures, ensuring smooth and legally sound completion of transactions.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Manage a caseload of Real Estate Tax and Registration matters
- Review legal documents and prepare Land Registry applications
- Draft and submit SDLT and LTT returns for residential and commercial transactions
- Process payments to HMRC/WRA and coordinate with clients and internal teams
- Handle registration of charges and debentures with Companies House
- Liaise with HM Land Registry, HMRC, WRA, financial institutions, and local authorities
- Respond to requisitions and resolve registration-related issues
- Conduct property and bankruptcy searches
- Draft notices of charge and assignment
- Maintain accurate records using systems like iManage, TM Group, and Search Acumen
- Conduct legal research on compliance and registration procedures
- Support continuous improvement and compliance initiatives
Eligibility:
- Prior experience in a similar role, particularly in Post Completions / RETR processes
- Working knowledge of SDLT/LTT procedures and risk management
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
- Excellent organisational and time management abilities
- High attention to detail and accuracy in documentation
- Proactive, flexible, and solution-oriented mindset
- Proficiency in legal tech platforms (HM Land Registry, Companies House, HMRC, WRA, Lexis, PLC, iManage, etc.)
