Location: Mumbai, India

We are looking to hire an on-site Legal Counsel for our Medical Devices division in India, reporting to the Country Lead Counsel. This role will support Johnson & Johnson Medical India (JJMI) in regulatory, transactional, and compliance matters.

Key Responsibilities

  • Offer strategic legal advice to JJMI’s Medical Devices business

  • Advise Franchise Leaders on legal matters and risk mitigation strategies

  • Assist in legal strategy for Go-To-Market models and New Product Launches

  • Support the management of legal risks, including training and preventive actions

  • Influence business decisions through sound legal counsel and clear communication

  • Ensure legal compliance with healthcare laws, regulations, and industry codes

  • Collaborate on M&A and licensing activities as guided by the Country Lead

  • Supervise external legal counsel and manage related budgets

  • Oversee litigation, disputes, and investigations relevant to business operations

  • Provide training and guidance on internal policies, such as:

    • Code of Business Conduct

    • Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA)

    • Corporate Integrity Agreements

    • Health Care Compliance requirements

  • Collaborate with global and regional legal teams for alignment and knowledge sharing

  • Advise on copy clearance and digital/legal reviews for online activities

Required Qualifications

  • LL.B. or LL.M. from a reputed Indian university or law school

  • 6 to 10 years of Post Qualification Experience (PQE)

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills in English

  • Experience in multinational corporations or the healthcare sector is preferred

  • Prior exposure to advising senior leadership is an advantage
