ABOUT THE NATIONAL HUMAN RIGHTS COMMISSION

The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) of India is a statutory body established on 12 October 1993 under the Protection of Human Rights Ordinance. It later gained statutory status through the Protection of Human Rights Act, 1993 (PHRA). The Commission is mandated to protect and promote human rights, defined as the rights to life, liberty, equality, and dignity, as guaranteed by the Constitution of India or enshrined in international covenants enforceable by Indian courts.

ABOUT THE INTERNSHIP – ONLINE, MAY 2025

NHRC is inviting applications for its “Online Short Term Internship Programme – May 2025.”

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

Applications are open to students across India who meet the following conditions:

  • Students in the 3rd year or beyond of a 5-year integrated postgraduate course

  • Final/3rd-year students of an undergraduate course

  • Students at any stage of a postgraduate degree or postgraduate diploma course

  • Registered research scholars from any academic stream

Additional requirements:

  • Candidates must have secured at least 60% marks in Class XII and all subsequent academic qualifications, including the current course

  • Percentage must be calculated and clearly stated from CGPA/SGPA with the formula used

  • The applicant should not be over 28 years of age as of April 1, 2025

INTERNSHIP DURATION

  • Period: 13 May to 23 May 2025

  • Timings: 10:00 AM to 5:30 PM (Monday to Friday)

  • Mode: Online

  • Nature: Full-time

STIPEND AND AWARD

  • A stipend of ₹2,000 will be provided upon successful completion

  • Certificate of participation will be granted based on:

    • Mandatory attendance, punctuality, discipline, and active participation

    • Timely submission of project presentation, project report, and book review

DOCUMENTS REQUIRED

  • Statement of Purpose (SoP): A 250-word write-up titled “Statement of Purpose for joining NHRC Online Short Term Internship” (used for selection)

  • Marksheets: Scanned, self-attested copies of Class XII mark sheet and all subsequent academic transcripts

  • Recommendation Letter: Scanned copy of a recommendation in the prescribed format from HOD/Dean/Principal
