Job Purpose

The role involves providing legal support to business units on corporate, financial, and intellectual property matters. This includes drafting and reviewing legal documents, refining policies, and strengthening Suzlon’s IP framework in accordance with current laws and regulations.


Key Responsibilities

  • Provide legal advice and support in banking and finance matters including the review of loan agreements, sanction letters, and security documents like mortgage deeds, pledges, hypothecation agreements, corporate guarantees, and NDUs.

  • Liaise with lenders and the LLC to ensure compliance with financial regulations relevant to borrowers.

  • Advise on mergers, acquisitions, divestitures, and other strategic transactions in India and internationally, ensuring timely completion with proper documentation and regulatory compliance.

  • Guide the improvement and implementation of Suzlon’s Intellectual Property framework, ensuring alignment with applicable laws.

  • Develop and enforce legal strategies and policies that safeguard Suzlon’s interests and mitigate risks.

  • Set up processes and standards for reviewing legal matters and managing regulatory exposure.

  • Establish guidelines for when to seek external legal counsel and ensure effective collaboration with them.

  • Support general corporate legal work including reviewing NDAs, MoUs, and business agreements to align with company standards and reduce risk.

  • Oversee corporate governance, ensuring compliance with statutory policies and internal processes.

  • Monitor evolving regulatory requirements and help management respond proactively.

  • Handle litigation and arbitration concerning corporate or legacy issues, ensuring consistency with the organization’s legal approach.

  • Coordinate with external counsels and offer guidance and background support as needed.


Key Skills

  • Law degree (LL.B.) from a recognized institution; specialized certifications in relevant areas are an advantage.

  • 12–15 years of legal experience, preferably with a corporate legal department or a reputed law firm.

  • In-depth knowledge of laws related to litigation, corporate contracts, and regulatory compliance.

  • Proven ability in handling litigation, conducting legal research, and managing cases.

  • Strong skills in contract drafting, reviewing, and negotiation.

  • Analytical mindset with the ability to assess legal risks and propose practical, compliant solutions.

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to work effectively with both internal and external stakeholders.
