About Kerala State Planning Board

The Kerala State Planning Board (KSPB) is the apex planning authority of the State Government, chaired by the Chief Minister of Kerala. It comprises a Vice Chairperson, ministers, non-ministerial members, and a Member Secretary. Senior government officials, including the Chief Secretary and Additional Chief Secretary (Finance), serve as permanent invitees.

The Planning Board’s core responsibilities include preparing Five-Year Plans, Annual Plans, and financial reviews, monitoring implementation of plans, facilitating interdepartmental coordination, supporting decentralized planning, reviewing Centrally Sponsored Schemes (CSS), externally aided projects, and developing policy briefs and recommendations for the Chairperson.


About the Internship Opportunity

The Kerala State Planning Board invites applications for its Student Internship Programme 2025–26. This initiative aims to nurture interest in evidence-based planning and policy research among emerging scholars in the state.

Interns will work on key thematic areas such as:

  • Agriculture and Allied Sectors

  • Co-operatives

  • Decentralization & Good Governance

  • Demography and the Care Economy

  • Disaster Management

  • Education & the Knowledge Economy

  • Environment & Climate Change

  • Fiscal Policy & Revenue Mobilization

  • Health & Nutrition

  • Industry, Innovation & Infrastructure

  • IT, Tourism, and Migration

  • Labour, Employment & Skill Development

  • MSMEs & Entrepreneurship

  • Poverty Alleviation & Livelihood

  • Marginalized Communities (SC/ST/OBCs)

  • Social Security & Welfare

  • Women & Child Development

  • Public Policy

  • Any topic relevant to Kerala’s development and planning


Eligibility Criteria

  • Applicants must be Indian citizens currently pursuing a PhD or final-year postgraduate studies from a recognized institution in India.

  • A recommendation letter from the Head of Department (as per Annexure-II format) is mandatory.

  • Eligible fields of study include:
    Economics, Econometrics, Statistics, Development Studies, Sociology, Commerce, Agriculture, Fisheries, Forestry, Environmental Science, Demography, Education, Law, Political Science, Public Policy, and Social Work.


Duration

  • The internship spans a total of 3 months.


Location

  • The programme will be based in Kerala.


Stipend

  • Upon successful completion:

    • Postgraduate interns will receive ₹24,000

    • PhD interns will receive ₹30,000
