
About the Organiser
Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) is a prestigious public central university in India, originally established by Sir Syed Ahmad Khan as the Mohammedan Anglo-Oriental College in 1875, which later became Aligarh Muslim University in 1920. The university’s main campus is located in Aligarh, Uttar Pradesh.
The Cultural Education Centre (CEC) at AMU is a prominent institution dedicated to promoting cultural and educational activities across the campus and community. Established in the early 1950s, it serves as a platform for dialogue, creativity, and skill development in art, literature, performing arts, and education.
The University Debating & Literary Club (UDLC), founded in 1973 and rechristened in 2015, is a leading student-run organization that promotes intellectual discourse, literary engagement, and debate. It continues the legacy of the historic Mohammadan Anglo Oriental College Literary Society founded by Sir Syed Ahmad Khan.
About the Competition
The University Debating and Literary Club (UDLC), AMU invites submissions for a series of competitions organised on the occasion of Women’s Day 2026. The competition encourages participants to critically and creatively engage with the theme and present unique perspectives through literary and creative expression.
Theme
“Wajood-e-Zan Se Hai Tasveer-e-Kaainat Mein Rang”
(Translation: The existence of women adds colour to the canvas of creation.)
Competitions Include:
- Letters to Women in History
- Short Film Scriptwriting
- Rewriting the Plot of Indian Cinema
- Self-Composed Poetry (based on the theme)
- Book Review
- English: A Room of One’s Own by Virginia Woolf
- Hindi/Urdu: Bade Ghar Ki Beti by Munshi Premchand
Objective:
To encourage participants to explore and reflect upon the role and contribution of women through creative writing, literary analysis, and artistic expression.
Participants must:
- Ensure originality and maintain academic integrity in submissions
- Maintain factual accuracy where applicable
- Follow the prescribed word limit of 600–800 words
- Submit entries in .doc or .docx format only
- Name documents in the format: [Student Name_Competition Title_Script Used]
- Include trigger warnings where necessary
- Avoid plagiarism or AI-generated content (strictly prohibited)
