Overview
This role involves managing legal affairs in India while supporting the Vice President, Legal, APAC & India. The position requires a strong legal background and leadership skills, as it oversees a team of four members, including 2 Managers, a Supervisor, and a Senior Officer. The candidate must strategically manage resources to support operations in Herbalife’s largest global market and act as a legal representative on the India Management Team.
Key Responsibilities

Collaborate with multiple departments, including General Management, Finance, HR, Compliance, and Public Affairs, to provide practical legal solutions and mitigate risks.

Identify legal, regulatory, or public issues quickly and recommend effective solutions. Anticipate potential concerns before they escalate to government or public attention.

Represent Herbalife India or its officials in legal proceedings when required.

Lead the India Legal Department, assist with crisis management, and develop training programs to reduce legal exposure.

Actively engage with management and regional leaders to promote business growth while ensuring compliance.

Offer proactive and strategic legal counsel to support long-term business objectives.

Possess knowledge of US legal frameworks, including securities, anti-corruption, and unfair competition laws.

Manage company secretarial functions and provide guidance on compliance with company laws, privacy, and data protection regulations.

Investigate compliance issues, draft and review legal agreements, and liaise with external counsels and regulatory bodies as necessary.

Coordinate with global ECO teams and support investigations when required.
Supervisory Role
This position supervises a team of 4 members (2 Managers, a Supervisor, and a Senior Officer) and collaborates with external law firms when needed.
Experience Required

Minimum 17 years of experience in a reputed Indian or international law firm or corporate legal department, preferably with litigation or regulatory expertise.

Strong English communication skills (written and spoken).

Member of the Bar in any Indian state is preferred.

Knowledge of Indian Food, Food Safety, Company, FEMA, and Consumer Protection laws.

Proven experience in leading teams, managing budgets, training, and resource allocation.

Ability to work independently, provide practical solutions, and deliver results in a dynamic environment.

Experience in client advisory and proactive legal counseling.

Willingness to travel regularly across India.
Education
Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) from a recognized Indian university.
